Germany: Last week the new Digital Radio Board of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (Bundesministeriums für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur (BMVI) had its first meeting. The panel are aiming to have a timetable for a transition to digital radio within a year.
The new Digital Radio Board are 15 person strong and includes high-level representatives from federal, state, public and private broadcasters as well as media authorities, radio and car manufacturers and other governmental bodies.
The first meeting was Wednesday last week and concluded that the aim is to make the transition as quickly as possible, efficiently and smoothly.
– Analog radio is technically exhausted, says Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMVI, Dorothee Bär.
– That is why we want to bring the radio into the digital age. In the Digital Radio Board we have all the relevant market participants. The change will only succeed if we work hand in hand.
