Radio 538 bagged the Marconi Award for “Best Radio Station”

Netherlands: Radio 538 – the biggest national commercial broadcaster in the Netherlands – were awarded “Best Radio Station” (Beste Zender) at the Marconi Awards and RadioRing Gala before the weekend. Q Music won it for 2015 and Radio 5 Nostalgia in 2014.

This is not the NAB Marconi Awards, but the national radio awards for the Netherlands. Nevertheless, being awarded “Best Radio Station” is quite an honour.

The Marconi Award for Upcoming Talent was won by Eva Cleven from FunX. This is an audience awards whre Ms Cleven fought off the other nominees; Jordi Warners (SLAM!), Bas Statementing (Radio 538) and Rob Janssen (3FM).

The Marconi Impact Award went to the summer of sports, De Sportzomer, on NPO Radio 1. The public service broadcaster focused on sports throughout the summer of 2016, and it paid off and managed to attract new listeners.
