The RAI in Amsterdam plays host to IBC2017. The conference kicks off today, Thursday, and will over the next couple of days offer over 90 session and 400+ speakers. Last year the event had a record attendance, attracting more than 55,000 attendees from 170 countries around the world. The exhibition had more than 1,700 of the world’s key technology suppliers.
Today the featured speakers at the conference are William Lewis, CEO of Dow Jones, Claudia Palmer, Chief Business Officer and CFO at Reuters and Gerald Sauvageon, Head of Publishing, Broadcast & Entertainment at Google.
One of the more anticipated sessions today is about eSports. eSports used to be the biggest sport no-one over 25 had ever heard of. Now, with a global market estimated in 2016 to top $463M, the power of eSports is unquestionable. So far mostly about TV, but podcasters are on eSports.
