LEAVING P4 Norway: Presenter Ms Siv Stubsveen leaves the radio waves and will go back to school. By Gine Juel Lundgren Tuesday 29.04.08, 12:46 Ms Siv Stubsveen, presenter on the national commercial broadcaster P4, handed in her notice earlier this month. After years at the station it was with a heavy heart she decided to leave her job as a presenter and producer after 15 years with the company. The reason is her wish to expand beyond radio and “contribute more”. Ms Stubsveen, best known for the programme “Kjærlighet Uten Grenser” (a late night romantic call-in and write-in show), says to website Kjendis.no that the decision is final. There is no drama concerning the notice, she also denies that it is as a result of any internal conflict. She says it is with a heavy heart she has made her decision and that she “can’t just be a soft voice - but wants to contribute more”. This is why the softly spoken presenter will return to school. - It’s like having a broken heart. P4 has been a big part of my life, and now we are breaking up. As in life when someone breaks up, the reason is necessity. It is with a very heavy heart I have made this decision, she says to Kjendis.no. She has no immediate plans going forward, but says she has been in touch with Lillehammer University College where she wants to become therapist. - I know what I want, but it’s hard to achieve. I want to get papers that says I can talk to people and hope to be able to work as a family therapist, says Ms Stubsveen. I’m a single mother and it will take me years to get the papers I need. I really want it, but it will take some time to get there. In her career she’s always had human relations as her main focus, most Norwegian listeners will remember her from the show “Kjærlighet Uten Grenser” (“Love Knows No Boundaries”). Lately she has produced the show “Den Beste Tiden” (“The Best Time”). Lately she has spent time on social political questions via the Norwegian project Kom Yi Peng, the aim of which is to help people afflicted by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and give thai children English lessons. Ms Stubsveen will leave P4 just before the summer after almost 15 years. P4 Managing Director Mr Kalle Lisberg says it is sad that she has decided to hand in her notice, but supports her decision fully. - She was one of the first people we hired 15 years ago. She will leave a void, but I can appreciate that she wants to move on, says Mr Lisberg to Kjendis.no. (Kjendis.no) |
